Tax Resolution Academy®

Learn how to analyze a taxpayer’s financial condition to determine resolution options, plus practical tips to save them money.

Revised and updated for 2021!

In CTR-111, we covered what the IRS allowable living expenses are and how to complete Form 433-A.

In this follow-on class, you will learn how to apply the standards to the benefit of your clients. In addition, you will learn how to argue for conditional expenses on behalf of your client, and how to do everything you legally and ethically can do to position your client’s financial affairs to benefit the client as much as possible, rather than the IRS.

This whole financial analysis process is critical to every tax resolution case that you take on. This financial analysis is what determines the resolution pathway that you will pursue for the client. Without conducting this analysis, you are literally flying blind into the dark and stormy night that is the IRS Collections division.

Combined with transcript analysis (see CTR-107), this comprises the answer to the question of how to start a tax resolution case. Every case is always the same, without fail, and requires transcript analysis and financial analysis in order to know how to proceed.

  • Apply the Collection Financial Standards to client situations.
  • Understand the range of possible adjustments to the allowable living expenses.
